Director of Education

The Tivoli Foundation seeks a candidate with extensive experience administering a musical theatre program for a diverse range of middle and high school students. The Rising Stars Program Director will develop the Tivoli Foundation’s education program, in partnership with Hamilton County Schools (HCS) and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), with the first goal of implementing Camp Broadway during Summer 2023. Opportunities to develop performing arts programming for early childhood and elementary students may be available based on the successful implementation of Camp Broadway. Under the direction of the Tivoli Foundation Executive Director, this position collaborates with multiple staff members and community partners. Employment is contingent upon a background check, review of references, and successful completion of training focused on working with minors.

Duties include:

Developing and implementing a summer camp program geared towards elementary through high school students

Researching program trends to assist with content development and program expansion

Recruiting program participants with intentional consideration of diversity, equity, and inclusion

Cultivating and engaging community partners, including HCS and UTC, to support program development and implementation

Aligning educational programming with HCS instructional needs and initiatives 

Identifying funding opportunities and assisting with program proposals 

Assisting with marketing content and promotional materials 

Assessing program impact and sharing findings with program stakeholders

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:

At least 3 years of experience developing and/or managing a performing arts  program for middle and high school students

Bachelor’s degree in theatre or a related area

Proficiency using computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite

Proficiency marketing programs through a variety of outlets

Ability to engage with community partners and develop collaborative programming

Ability to adapt to shifting program trends

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent time management skills 

Evidence of commitment to increasing opportunity and access for all learners from previous work experience

Preferred:

Training and/or credentials in theatre for young audiences and/or theatre education. Candidates with an MA or MFA in theatre or a related field will receive special consideration.

Experience directing musicals with middle and/or high school students

Experience writing grants and fundraising

Experience using social media to market programs
