VAUGHAN WILLIAMS – Dona Nobis Pacem
One of the finest British composers of the 20th century, Vaughan Williams is known for his choral works, with one of the most highly-regarded of those works being Dona Nobis Pacem. Written under the impending start of WWII, Dona Nobis Pacem is a powerful and poignant piece that will touch the hearts of everyone in the audience. The evening will also feature Pulitzer Prize-winning composer George Walker’s Lilacs – an inspirational work that combines the poetry of Walt Whitman with the beauty of a chorus and orchestra.
